There are a lot of countries that compete in the wrestling Olympics the bigger countries in the sport are Russia the United States
Normal fights in the UFC span 3 rounds of 5 minutes each. Championship bouts can go up to 5 rounds of 5 minutes each.
The referee may stop a match if he feels that one fighter is beating up on the other who is unable to defend himself. The match may also be stopped if one fighter locks up a submission move on the other and they tap-out.
If the match goes the distance, the judges score is gathered and a winner is declared. Judges can give each fighter up to 10 points per round and then scores are added up to declare the winner.
Basketball game.... not match. and it depends on the league. College is 2 quarters of 20 minutes each so 40 minutes. and highschool and lower is usually 4 quartrs of 8 minutes each so 32 minutes.
Wrestling has been in the Olympics pretty much when the Olympics were created. It was introduced in 708 BC. But when the modern Olympics resumed in 1896, Greco-Roman Wrestling was the main focus (not including when it did not appear in 1900 Summer Olympics). IOC committee voted to remove wrestling in the 2020 Olympics but gladly with the help of 2020 visions it would later be re-instated.

yes and no.... it was in the first olympic games... but people ran first. But Wrestling is widely considered to be the oldest sport.
There are 2 different Olympic styles of wrestling. The first is Freestyle wrestling. The second is Greco-Roman wrestling. There is also Folkstyle wrestling, which is the style that American High Schools compete in. There is an altered version of folkstyle called College wrestling, which is the style that American colleges and universities compete in. Freestyle involves moves used on and by both the upper and lower body, while Greco-Roman wrestling limits the wrestlers to only upper body moves, mainly throws. Here is the official website of USA wrestling.
Folk Style is the normal type of wrestling like in junior high, high school, or college. Freestyle is more upper body oriented. I think both are great anyway.
Actually, the more upper body oriented version of wrestling is Greco-Roman. Freestyle and Greco are very similar except in Freestyle you can utilze the legs in the match. For instance double leg and single leg take-downs. In Greco you cannot touch or utilize the legs. But the difference in Folkstyle and Freestyle is the scoring. In Folkstyle there are 2 pts. takedown, 2 pts. reversal, 2 pts. for 3 sec. nearfall, 3 pts. for 5 sec. nearfall, 1 pt. escape, and 1 pt. for stalling or other penalty point. A technical pin in Folkstyle is a lead by 10 pts. Also the match is one constant match in comparison to Freestyle there are 3 separate rounds in one match. To win a match you must win two out of the three matches. After each round the score is reset and both wrestlers are at zero pts. To technical pin a guy a wrestler must lead by 6 pts. There is no such thing as a tie, or overtime, in Freestyle because if the two wrestlers were in a tie of 6 to 6 the last person to score wins or if a wrestler has a higher amount of high scoring moves or throws. This stands true unless there are no pts. scored at all during the round then the wrestlers go into a clinch, where one wrestler has a single leg and the other has to get out, first person to score wins the round. In Freestyle scoring partial back exposure, escapes, takedowns, reversals, and nearfall are all worth 1 pt., a wrestler can be awarded either 3,4, or 5 pts. for a throw (5 pt. throws win the entire match and 2 3 pt. throws win a round regardless of the score), 2 pts. are awarded for complete back exposure (for example the wrestler without control rolls his back on the mat), 1 pt. is awarded to the attacker if both wrestlers go out of the circle (unlike Folkstyle where if your on bottom and the other guy is close to pinning you it would be smarter to "crawl" out of bound if you're able to). And also, in Folkstyle pts. are taken away or given to the other wrestler if you stall, Freestyle however you are encoraged to stall out. But that is the general difference between those two styles of wrestling, there is a lot more but I think that will give you a good idea of the differences.
There is an age limit. Can you see a two or three ye old wrestler? No. But, freestyle wrestling there isn’t an age limit.
Winning a set in tennis requires 6 games, 7 games, or 6 games and 1 7 point tiebreak worth of won points. Each game requires you to win 4 points (not counting ad scoring) so a 6 game set would require 24 points won. A 7 game set would require 28 points won. A 6 games and 7 point tiebreak set would require 31 points won. All of this is calculated assuming that there is no ad scoring. In theory, with ad scoring sets could take thousands of points to win.

Kurt Angle obviously.
Mark Henry may have done, he was in the Olympics, but I'm not sure if he won.

The best wrestling colleges are currently in Iowa. (i.e. ISU, Iowa, Loras, etc.)
2004 Games in Athens.
Women participate in freestyle wrestling at the flyweight (48 kg-106 lbs), lightweight (55 kg-121 lbs), middleweight (63 kg-139 lbs), and heavyweight (72+ kg-159+ lbs) classes.
Women's wrestling is different than men's... in the sense that women are stronger in the lower body compared to men who are usually stronger at the top, women are a lot more flexible than men, and use moves differently. So guys who have watched women wrestle realize that it isn't some joke but is something new and exciting.

I'm an Alabama All State NCAA wrestling champion and I'll be honest, you can wear a cup but it's not suggested because it can affect certain movements and it can actually hurt you more than help.
I always wear a jockstrap and cup for EVERY sport. I play baseball, football, and hockey, as well. For wrestling I wear a soft cup brief that does not interfere and is also relatively unnoticeable if that bothers you. The soft cup is nice since it is flexible but also protects you.
I agree with the previous poster in that I also wear a cup and jock for every sport whether required or not. I feel it gives me the confidence and edge to play all-out without having to worry.
I have been wrestling since age twelve. My first coach insisted that we wear a cup and I have ever since. I am now a senior in H.S. It gives me a peace of mind. I have friends who wrestle and do not wear one and they have been injured.
I have been wrestling since 11 and on my first wrestling practice the first thing I asked him was if we had two wear a cup and he said that it is not needed. But if you want to wear one then that's your choice.
Nope never, jockstrap or brief only.
I am a senior this year and no one wears a cup on my team. Most everyone wears briefs. And yeah you can get hurt there. Freshman year I was in a tournament and got hit there. I took my medical but had to forfeit. It hurt so bad I couldn't continue.
In most cases a cup would create an unsightly bulge in a wrestling singlet, and cups are generally never worn, except perhaps by one organ athletes. Not to say they wouldn't come in handy, as it seems in every tournament you will witness at least one victim curled up on the mat clutching his groin.
I have to admit that yes I did wear a cup for wrestling (as well as for every sport). Like a previous post stated, it gave me the confidence to go all out in whatever I did. That said, it certainly wasn't common to wear a cup for wrestling.
Soft jock strap under the singlet every time.
